Joe LaPierre grows his dahlias in the fishing village of Herring Cove. Joe's garden is unique because he is growing his tubers on top of granite proving that you can grow these garden plants in the most difficult of conditions. He has built up pockets of soil over the years to make this a successful garden. Joe has been a consistent winner at the Dahlia Society of Nova Scotia shows. Not being content with that success, Joe is developing new varieties and in fact is known for his Tribune's City of Halifax and Tribune's City of Dartmouth .
