David Steele 's garden overlooks the Minas Basin and is subject to cooler than average temperatures over the summer and fall.  The garden site is surrounded on three sides by mature trees which shelter the plot from most severe winds. 

Dave and partner Lil Girroir use the dahlia garden as a basis for a commercial cut flower operation, and as such, do not grow many of the larger dahlias.  Most space is used for dahlias that can be used in the cut flower business, but Dave does take a few to the annual show.
